FCA Book Club – Enemy Feminisms: TERFs, Policewomen, and Girlbosses Against Liberation

When:
Where:NieuwLand, (Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93, Amsterdam)

Our next read is going to be Enemy Feminisms, in which Sophie Lewis explores the history of extremist feminist movements (such as anti-abortionist and anti-trans feminists, KKK feminists, pornophobes), and the way they are holding back a larger globalized feminist movement from bringing forth the change we so wish to see in the world.

If there are topics or questions you would like to discuss please bring those with you!

Sunday Feminist Discussion – Post-Holiday Edition

When:
Where:NieuwLand (Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93, Amsterdam)

While the holiday period can be a time to rest, reflect, and spend time with our loved ones, it can also bring stress as we navigate expectations, complex relationships, and family dynamics. The holiday season is not always a joyful time for everyone; it’s the season of time-consuming, unpaid labor! How can we rethink the holidays outside the nuclear family by spending time with our chosen family and friends?

Sunday Feminist Discussion – FINTA Friendship and Activism

When:
Where:NieuwLand (Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93, Amsterdam)

This Sunday’s discussion will explore the theme of FINTA (Female, Intergender, Non-binary, Trans, and Agender) friendships and activism. How are FINTA friendships connected to activism? How do we build and nurture friendships through activism? In what ways can friendship itself be a form of activism? How do we become more resilient through our friendships? What are your associations with friendship and activism? Together, we will reflect on what activist friendships and friendship activism mean to us, while sharing our own experiences and practices.

Created in collaboration with Lene Marquardt, a photography student at KABK. Read more information and register here.

FCA Book Club – Feminism for the World

When:
Where:NieuwLand (Pieter Nieuwlandstraat 93, Amsterdam)

“In the years since #MeToo, misogyny, sexism and gender based violence have flooded the news and our social media timelines. Anti-privilege politics and intersectionality have entered the mainstream—systematically trolled on one end of the spectrum; embraced, to questionable ends, on the other. But what has this increased visibility entailed, other than the marketisation of the feminist struggle?”

More information TBA.
